Asus Rampage V Extreme
Asus delivered again on a superior OC board and OC package that will be hard to beat by other manufacturers. Asus included WiFi, Bluetooth, OC Panel, brackets, more brackets, bridges, a few hundred dozen USB 3 ports and about 16 SATA ports. along with all the regular goodies packed into the board. Just looking at the back panel for the first time gets an "oh damn" and then you get a little dizzy only to turn the board around to and gasp at the 16 MSATA ports.
The board has multi BIOS chips to ensure that failure is not an option, 2x USB 3 headers for front panels, a bracket to adapt different heat sinks to the CPU socket and take advantage of the through holes in the motherboard, easy access CMOS clear switch in its usual ROG location, m.2 MSATA, LN2 mode switch, seriously this list does not end. Take a look at the product website for more details on this bundle for sure. http://www.asus.com/us/site/motherboards/X99/ The heat sinks are screwed down with back plates to improve contact pressure, very nicely done. The OC panel connects the motherboard via a proprietary cable, it monitors and controls a lot of the overclocking features without entering bios or a software application. You can monitor temperatures and speeds from the panel's LED display. The OC panel also has fan headers and temp probe headers for additional monitoring. The OC panel also has its own bracket to be mounted in the case. |
5960X @ 5.5Ghz 8C/16T enabledThe Rampage 5 Extreme does not fail to deliver maximum speeds on both CPU and memory overclocking, the bandwidth number produced were far beyond what the Gigabyte board could do. 1T no problem, 3Ghz, no problem.
I just started opening the chip up, LN2 arrived today and I will be posting results all weekend so check back later for more updates. Oh yeah, keep the vmem under 1.55v or you are gonna have a bad time. |
